Back to Starting Point Nollendorfplatz
Explore the inner city of Berlin (inside the S-Bahn circle) one quarter at a time according to a drawing of a four-leaved clover leaf!
The heart-shaped leaves/tours point to the four directions of the compass. Each tour starts and comes back to the center where the four
clover leaves meet. After completing all four tours you can proudly say "Ich bin ein Berliner".
The Clover Leaf Tour North first takes us directly through the Tiergarten and Brandenburg Gate
to Museum Island. From here, we ride straight north and come to the "Scheunenviertel" (Barn Quarter) and Prenzlauer Berg district.
At the time of the GDR, these former living quarters of the working class were falling into decay whereas today, they are
among the most popular quarters of the city. At the northern end of the famous "Mauerpark" ("Wall Park"), the turning point
of our tour, we "cross over" into Wedding district. Once, it was part of the so-called "Golden West" but, today, it is considered
one of the worst problem districts. On the other hand, here you find a lot of history and the Berlin feeling of "poor but sexy".
After enjoying the view over Berlin from the 2nd World War anti-aircraft defence bunker we follow winding paths along Panke Creek
and along the Wall to the government district. Before we reach our goal, as we pass the noble Culture Forum, you will learn
about the "Potse" (Potsdamer Strasse) and what it is infamous for.
